A Much Needed Snow Day!

I was anticipating this weather all week. 

But I thought a 3 day weekend, followed by a 3 day week and ANOTHER 3 day weekend was too good to be true. 

Luckily, the weather hit at the perfect time to give us a nice icy commute and school officials called school off early this morning. 

 Thankful for my boo, Rachel, for forwarding the text alert, mine didn't come through :( 

I realize it's really not THAT snowy outside....

But, while running across the street to pick up some dry cleaning, I saw a pretty bad accident. 

Lots of black ice out there. There were several accidents on the interstate this morning. So hopefully, calling off school was the right choice :) I just hope it wasn't a "waste" of a snow day. I'm perfectly ok with a snow day here in there, I just hate when we have snow days back to back. Hopefully February won't be too bad. 

Perry had fun running errands with me and hanging out at home. 

We caught up on Laundry, dropped off and picked up dry cleaning, had a pit stop at Starbucks and cleaned the house!!

I should be working on Grad school homework, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Guess I'll have to head to Starbucks and buckle down this weekend!

I'm hoping the roads aren't bad tonight so I can meet my friend for BarreCardio at Sweat. I need an intense workout after splurging on Mexican (and Margaritas!) last night at dinner.

The Bullet

I'm a big protein shake for breakfast/after a workout kind of girl. 

I've been using the blender bottles, but I hate that you can't add chunks of fruit to your smoothie!

I had this little beauty on my christmas/birthday list and my lovely boyfriend did not disappoint. 

I'm loving all the concoctions I've made lately.

Back to Running....

It's official....

Ben and I signed up for the Run the Bluegrass Lexington Half Marathon in March.

It was our first half marathon last year and it was a VERY hilly course!!!! Since then, we've both slacked on running consistently. I'll run a few times a month but nothing serious.

My 10- week training program starts next week, so I'm trying to just get back into the routine of running. I'm going to up my weekly runs to 4-5x/ week instead of 3x like last year.

I'm following the Marathon Rookie training plan this year. I'm hoping to do more long runs on the actual course so I can get used to the hills.

I have to admit, I'm pretty excited to start running again. I love running and doing pure barre/barreamped workouts as much as my schedule allows each week. I just feel like I get such a good workout from both of them and I'm in a better mood the rest of the day.

I LOVE working out in the morning, it's just so hard to get out of bed and my feet on the ground! I always lay my clothes out the night before, so I literally just have to get out of bed, brush my teeth and change. I'm hoping I will be able to do more runs in the morning this time!!

Anyone else training for a half marathon? All you Lexingtonians, I highly recommend Run the Bluegrass!!! The RtB race is a great one! So organized and a gorgeous course!!!!!

New Planner!

I bit the bullet and bought the Erin Condren Life Planner!

I'm in LOVE!

It's perfect. 

I am still getting used to using a different layout than before, but it's working so far. And that's all the counts, right?!

I'm using it for work appointments and reminders, personal appointments and reminders, food log, exercise log, everything :)

I even loved the pretty package it came in!!!!

I ordered it in December and it only took about 2 weeks to get here. It came right after Christmas. So given the busy season and off days for the holidays, it shipped pretty fast!!

So happy I went with the EC life planner for 2013!

Happy 2013!

I can't believe it's already 2013! 


And I actually wrote the date correct all day! Pretty impressive, huh?!

We had a great New Years Eve. It was low key, but exactly what I wanted!

We went out to Hibachi dinner with some friends. Such a fun place to go on NYE!

Then we came home, changed into sweat pants and went next door to ring in the new year with our friends and puppies :)

I'm excited to see what 2013 has in store. 

My overall resolution is to continue living a healthy lifestyle

-Work out consistently (running, barre or yoga 4x a week)

-Eat healthy all week (follow the Tone It Up diet more consistently and having WHOLE foods, and none of that processed junk!)

-Wash my face before I go to bed at night (I MUST do a better job with this! Ugh!)

-Have more dinner dates with my girl friends (I'm so busy with grad school, work, etc. I feel like I never have time to just relax and grab a glass of wine with friends)

-I promise I will TRY to blog more!!! I had 66 blog posts in 2011 and only 30 in 2012. Goal for 2013 is 70 blog posts, I can do it :)
