Weekend Recap and 5K!!

This weekend flew by! I am so glad I have a full week off to recover! HELLO SB 2011!!!

On Saturday afternoon, we went to a favorite bar on campus to prepare for the UK game (don't even get me started on the game Saturday night... That wasn't the UK team that had been playing the past few weeks. Maybe next year....)

We just went for lunch and to see everybody who came in town. Perry joined us, and loved being with us outside the whole afternoon.

He was pretty much held the whole time and then laid by our feet while we ate lunch. Such a good little pup.

Saturday afternoon, my sister, Karie and her boyfriend, Andrew came into town for the weekend!! We had made plans to run a 5K back in January and decided to run one at the Kentucky horse park in April. It was a great weekend for visitors, hanging out outside, and a 5K!

Saturday night, we went out to dinner to Saul Good. I love everything their menu offers and whenever I order something new, I am never disappointed!

We ordered Thai Chicken pizza and Veggie Pizza. Both were amazing! I ordered a veggie pita, but ended up taking most of it home so I could devour the pizza instead, haha. Seriously, so good. If you live in Lexington and go to Saul Good, order the Thai Chicken pizza, I promise you won't be disappointed!!

Then we went to another favorite, ORANGE LEAF! Karie and Andrew had never been, so I wanted to take them.

I think we are starting to become Orange Leaf regulars. We go about once a week. Pretty soon, our bowl is going to be as big as the one in the picture behind us with all the toppings we keep adding!!

After dinner, we came home and hung out with Perry while we waited for the game to start. Perry loved his new toys from Aunt KK!

Thanks KK for all of the gifts for little Perry!

We even put Perry's bball jersey on for the UK game, and it still didn't bring any luck to our boys in blue... We quickly went to bed after the sad UK loss.

Sunday morning, we woke up bright and early and went over to Kentucky Horse park for the race. 6:15am came wayyy early!

I didn't take any pictures at the race. I wish I would have brought my phone because the Horse Park looked gorgeous that early in the morning! I need to get an armband so I can run with my phone. Any brand recommendations?

Run the Bluegrass was a GREAT race. Everything was very organized, we had no problems with traffic or parking. Karie and I are thinking about committing to the Half Marathon next year! I think we are going to build up and do a 5 miler, then 10K, then 10 miler, and eventually the Half Marathon next April.

I used the Couch to 5K program on iTunes to train. I highly recommend this if you are beginning to run!!

We finished the 5K in 33:11 minutes. I am really happy with that time, considering I hadn't run a race in 3 years!!

We had GREAT weather both days this week. After the race, we took a nap and Karie and Andrew started the drive back north. Thanks for driving down for the weekend!! We loved having you, and Perry loved meeting you :)

We took Perry to the puppy park in the afternoon. I love taking him there so he burns lots of energy and can enjoy running around. Everyone always compliments on him and his temperament. I'm glad other people love my puppy as much as I do!!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the nice weather!! I need another nap to catch up from this busy weekend!! Thankfully, I have the whole week to :)

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm linking up with Jamie for
What I’m Loving Wednesday

1-I'm LOVING this weather. It has been so nice out, which means we can go outside for recess at school, Perry can go play at the puppy park, and I can run outside! I even enjoyed the little storm we had this afternoon. Perfect napping weather, which is exactly what I did. No the back door is open and Perry is loving laying outside!

2- I'm loving that this SPRING BREAK is less than 2 weeks away and I will be heading here....

I can't wait to see my mom, shop, lay by the pool and head to beach!!!

3-After Spring Break, it will be KEENELAND time in the bluegrass!!!

4- KENTUCKY is in the sweet sixteen and play OHIO STATE on Friday. I have waited for the day that UK plays OSU since I came to school almost 5 years ago. People keep asking who I'm going to cheer for.... and you better believe I'll be wearing this on Friday!

5-I'm loving Apple. I took my iPhone 4 in to the genius bar last night and they replaced it. It kept randomly turning off when I would be using an APP and it would be like 10 minutes before I could get it to come back on.... Thank you Apple for having great customer service!

While in the Apple store, I'm convinced that I want need the iPad 2!!

6- And finally, I'm loving that there are only TWO MORE DAYS until the weekend :)

What are you loving this Wednesday?!

Thankful Thursday

What I'm thankful for today....

1. It's almost the WEEKEND! I have a jam-packed weekend and I can't wait!! Friday night, I'm going to Table 310 with some girlfriends for drinks and appetizers! I can't wait to try this place!!

 (via google images)

2. My much needed hair appointment on Saturday morning!!! Can't wait to see my hair dresser, who is pregnant and just found out she's having a boy AND a girl! So excited for her. Think I may stop and get her a little gift before my appointment :)

3. The weather is supposed to be semi-nice this weekend. I think last weekend was just a tease with the warmer temps and sunshine!

We currently are under a flash flood watch until Friday. I'm already over all this rain and it's just beginning. It is not helping me potty train Perry!

But I think it has convinced me I want NEED some Hunter Wellies! I just need to figure out what color would be best....
 Pink.... Or Black?

4. I'm thankful for my little Perry. He is always so happy to see me when I get him out of his crate in the afternoon. He really has been such an easy puppy so far. He's just started biting everything in sight. Which has resulted in buying more puppy toys and bones to try and keep him entertained instead of gnawing on my hand!

5. Pedicure time!!! It's almost March 1st, which means I can get my nails down again. I try and only go once a month because I feel like I waste  spend so much on nails when I really should just do them myself. But I do love the new "gelish" nails. Those manicures don't play around. My last one went over 3 1/2 weeks before it started to chip!!

I'm hoping for one of these new OPI colors for my pedi! Maybe the Guy meets Galveston...

6. Pure Barre. I LOVE pure barre. I know I mention this a lot, but I LOVE the 55 minutes you are in there tucking and toning your arms, thighs, seat and abs! It really is a great workout. I have been going once a week and can already tell a difference in how my clothes fit. Plus I love how I feel after I leave a pure barre class. Even if I'm so sore I can barely move the next day!!

What are you thankful for?

Weekend Recap

I've pretty much been MIA from the internet world for the past 4 days because of this....

(via google images)

I woke up Saturday morning with a terrible sore throat. I thought maybe I just slept wrong and my throat hurt from having the fan on. Didn't think too much of it. So I went to Hot Yoga early in the morning and survived! We had panera for lunch, and a soup and salad sounded perfect. I should have realized I didn't feel well when I didn't even eat my food. Just had 1/2 of my salad. But, I didn't even notice my throat was hurting anymore. I layed down and took a nap around 12:30, thinking I was just tired from Hot Yoga.

Well I woke up almost 4 hours later with a fever and sore throat again. I HATE being sick. I had plans Saturday with friends who were in town and really didn't want to miss going out. I was so mad when I had to accept the fact that I needed to take medicine and lay low for the night. Ugh!

I've been out of commission and laying in bed for what seems like an eternity now. No going out Saturday. No Super Bowl parties on Sunday. NOTHING. I hate being cooped up in bed all day. Drives me nuts!

Thankfully, I made it to work yesterday because we had several meetings that I didn't want to miss. The day flew by and I didn't even have to time to think about my throat bothering me. Thankfully, I have been on antibiotics since Sunday morning.

I was so thankful when I got the text this morning saying we had a snow day! I just needed one more day of nothing but being lazy to kick out this strep throat! I swear I haven't had strep since I was in Kindergarten, right before I had my tonsils taken out. I never remember strep throat hurting this badly. IT SUCKS!!!!

So I've been loading up on lots of this:

and taking my antibiotics around the clock! I'm ready to be over this!!!!

Now I'm off to a lunch date with Miss Tracy to celebrate our snow day.

Hope everyone has a fabulous Tuesday and stays healthy! There's lots of things going around right now--flu, colds, strep--so stay load up on airborne or Emergen-C!!!

It's Almost The Weekend!

 (via google images)

This week has been a longgggg week. We haven't had school for a full 5-day week since winter break. While I hate that we will have to make up all of our snow days in the summer, I do kind of miss waking up to a text message saying there's no school today.  A day off is a nice break and an excuse to sleep in run errands and shop! But, I'm appreciative of any day off we have regardless of winter or summer.

Saturday morning, I plan on attending Hot Yoga and sweating my butt off. I haven't been to Hot Yoga in 2 years, so I'm sure it's going to suck. But I bought a month pass on Groupon and need to use it ASAP! I have my pink yoga mat and camelbak ready for class!

My body is still trying to recover from Pure Barre on Wednesday. I took today off, but hopefully I'll be back on the treadmill tomorrow. I made an intense workout schedule for the month of February and I'm trying really hard to stick to it! My sister, Carrianne and I, are hoping to run 5 different 5K's throughout the year, so I can't let myself slack! It's so hard for me to get back into running after taking a several months  weeks off!

And of course, the Super Bowl is on Sunday.

I am going to my friend's house for a little Super Bowl pot luck. I think I'm going to take my classic Buffalo Chicken Dip and maybe a dessert. I have been craving Monster Cookies and found Paula's recipe online! Mmmm

And finally, one of my good friends just started a blog tonight! We had tons of classes together during our undergrad and now we work together!! I am so happy she is starting a blog as well. She just got married in July and started teaching in August. Whew, what a busy summer. Follow her here!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!
